This barn very proudly states that it was built in 1948. It appears to be in the process of repair, based on the fact that one half has been re-roofed in silver metal (but still in keeping with the vintage appearance), while the other still has an older roof. During my escapades today I looked out the living room window to see a very large goose in our front field. In the ten years that we've lived here we've never had a Canada goose land on our property. This barn was found totally by accident. I had just taken photographs of another barn (which I have yet to share), and was continuing my drive on the same gravel road. When I drove around the bend this barn sat right in the middle of my view. It was the wrong time of day. An overly bright day. And the sun was at a bad angle for taking any kind of good photograph. I still couldn't resist.

I was sent this short film in an email, and immediately went looking for information about it. Having had a father who was handicapped (though not to this extent) this really touched a chord with me. It's a wonderful piece if you have the time to watch. It runs about 20 minutes. This short has won several awards, including the Clint Eastwood Filmmaker Award. It will soon become a feature film.

This barn sits near Mt. Hood in the Columbia River Gorge. I love the fact that it has a brand new red metal roof, but the lower half is in dire need of attention. My own barn (estimated at 35 years old), from the front, original condition. One of two sides that has yet to be resided (due to our wet climate, in red metal). I don't know if the barn was ever any color other than brown (the previous owner had a thing for brown, barn, house, inside and out), but like to think that it may have been red when built.
